Touch Me Not

  • Dir: Adina Pintilie

  • Romania/Germany, 2018, 125minmins, DCP

  • Cast: Laura Benson, Tómas Lemarquis, Christian Bayerlein

The controversial Golden Bear winner at this year’s Berlinale divided audiences with its direct and unflinching exploration of sex and physical intimacy. Observational rather than exploitative, the film follows a number of marginalised atypical individuals as they wrestle with their own sexual hangups and peccadillos. At a time when the #MeToo movement has shocked everybody into reevaluating physical boundaries and personal space, Touch Me Not presents its audience with characters who refuse to be marginalised by their disabilities – or society’s prejudices against their perceived differences – and embraces them with open arms.
