  • China, 2015, 90minmins

  • Cast: Dong Zijian, De Ji

Director Liu Jie again finds inspiration amid the snowcapped peaks and verdant hills of Yunnan province, the setting for his films Deep in the Clouds (2010) and Courthouse on Horseback (2006). In 1984, Wang, a callow young man, takes over his missing father’s job as a rural loan officer. Accompanying De Lan, an enigmatic Tibetan woman, back to her village where his father was respected, Wang becomes both witness and participant in the traditions and mysteries of the locals. Wang’s blossoming love for the woman and his own sexual awakening come at a pivotal moment on his journey to adulthood.
